 Everybody’s paying attention to the huge changes brought by the new iOS update for Apple devices. However, there is a lot to talk about other than the App Library, Widgets, Messages, etc.

No wonder Apple successfully introduced an update that also has been adapted by the majority of the people within five weeks.  However, nobody’s emphasizing its minute details, including maps, translations, notifications, etc.

iOS 14 Maps

The recent Apple update has brought along some new Maps features, including Guides that provide you information regarding the nearby places to visit. This feature comes in handy when you’re at an unfamiliar place or on vacation. Why hire a guide when you have one in your hand?

A few changes in the Maps app were available when the beta version was released. For instance, a route planner plans your route and views the easiest method to reach the destination. Not only this, but it also plots out routes if you’re walking, cycling, or any other mode of transportation.



Additionally, the app also views any potential stoppage you might want to take, for example, bike repair shops if you’re riding a bike. Unfortunately, cycling directions are limited to certain areas, but the company is likely to work.

iOS 14 Translation

The translation feature of iOS 14 will prove to be the most useful feature of all time. The new feature can translate phrases up to eleven different languages. It enables you to speak or type the words, phrases, and sentences you want to translate. If you use the same more frequently, it can be saved to the favorites list.

This is not it! The new feature can split the screen into two when you use it in landscape mode. One side appears with the language you enter for translation, and the other side views the translated language.

The translation app will cut the need to search for translations online. Therefore, it will act as a go-to option for many people traveling to different places with vast languages. However, using the app isn’t possible without an internet connection. So, the app allows you to download the language on your phone for offline use.

iOS 14 Compact Notifications

It happens many times when you’re doing something on your phone, and somebody calls you. To avoid making it an annoying situation for the caller, you wait for the call to end if you’re not interested in picking the same.

This is one of the best features introduced by the new update. For instance, watching a movie, playing games, and more, the calls don’t fill up the screen. Instead, it just appears on the top of the screen from where you can opt to pick or dismiss the call.

iOS 14 Working with Siri

Apple claimed that Siri is three times smarter than it was three years ago. Siri enables you to perform tasks like giving you cycling directions, recording audio messages via Siri, and forwarding the same using the Messages app, etc.

Whenever you activate Siri, it doesn’t take you to a separate screen. Instead, a Siri icon appears on the screen, and whatever information it has to present, it appears on the top.

iOS 14 App Clips

One of the most significant changes that have come along with the new iOS 14 update is downloading apps for specific tasks like paying for parking. The new feature is named App Clips, and a few third-party apps are already running with the same.

According to a few reviewers, the App Clips feature is not functioning properly. However, it is expected that the feature can prove to be quite useful soon.

iOS 14 Bugs

As we all know that all the beta versions tend to release bugs. However, no one experienced too many bugs, either with the beta version or the software update. Some people reported that they faced some issues like keyboard not appearing while you try to search, applications bringing up issues while downloading, etc.

One or the other time, everyone updates their phones with the available software update. A lot of people question whether they should update their phones or not? No one has an answer to the same. Updating or not updating depends upon your comfort and demand for the new features. If features that you always wanted are being introduced with the new update, it is no harm to try them.
