Apple Translate Vs Google Translate? Which One Is Better?

With the recently released version of Apple’s operating system of iOS 14, a lot of new features have been added to this latest version. One of the main features in this version is Apple’s Translation application. This new translation app is in direct competition with the most famous application of Google Translator. The Apple translator app has a clean and simple user interface that covers up some excellent features within itself that includes translate mode, ability to save lots of phrases, offline translation, and much more. When it comes to translation, Google Translate has always been a first and foremost choice for most people. But, with the launching of Apple translator within iOS 14, now it becomes interesting to see the competitive state between both the translation applications. And now, both the services are being compared to each other. Do you also want to know between these both translator applications which one is the better option? Which one is more beneficial? Well, this will be the main focused area of our article today. In our following article, today we are going to discuss the different aspects of both the applications and will let you know which one is the better platform.

Apple Translate Vs Google Translate

Translation applications are the most important parts of our devices. They are like our companions in the situation like, when we are at someplace, and we don’t understand the language of the people of that community. In that case, these translator applications become the most helpful and useful tool that helps us to understand other languages by translating it into the languages that we know. However, there are other options for the language translator tools as well that you can find in the store. But, here, we are going to compare the two main translator applications of Apple translate and Google Translator. We will compare both the tools on various fronts. We have mentioned the sections depending on which we are going to compare them. Let’s see what those sections are. Take a look below:

  • Language supported by both the applications
  • User Interface
  • Offline support
  • Accuracy

So, these are the sections that we are going to discuss in our comparison between Apple translator and Google Translator. Also, while going through the comparison, please take a note that Apple Translate is the recent feature in the current version of iOS 14 developer beta. So, it is also possible that some new features might be added to the application before its final release. With this much explanation, let’s get started with comparison by discussing the languages supported by both the translator applications. Here it is, please take a look:

Languages supported by Google Translator and Apple Translate

Google is a well known and most commonly used translation application that offers various useful features to the users. And most importantly, the languages supported by this great translator application are numerous. For an accurate number, on the current basis, it supports 103 major languages. And among all the 103 languages, 43 languages support bilingual conversations. It is also important to keep in mind that the 103 languages that are supported by the Google Translator are only for the text conversion and not for the real-time conversation translation.

On the other hand, the newly released Apple’s translator application supports the 11 languages that include Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. In addition to that, all the 11 languages supported by Apple are for both purposes, namely text and bilingual conversation. While the company is claiming to add more languages in the future, it is about this current time when we are comparing both the services. So, in this aspect, undoubtedly, the Google Translator wins this round.

User Interface

Now coming to the section of the user interface of both the translator tools, I prefer to choose the option of Apple Translate. Not only the cleaner user interface, but it is very easy that can be used by all the iOS devices’ users. Apple Translate has two buttons located at the top through which you can select the languages along with the middle section that provides you with the translation results. It has a bottom field as well where you can type or speak the line that you want to get translated. Speaking of the Google Translator, it is also easy to use this application, but, you will find Apple’s Translator more pleasant to use than Google. On the other side, Google has a feature where you can copy the text that you want to get translated. While the same feature in Apple’s translator is not as easy as Google. So, comparing the interface of both services is quite complex. I would say that both have the easy to use interface. So, it’s unnecessary to give any point to either service on this behalf.

Offline Support

Both the services of Google Translate and Apple Translate support the offline mode of translation. Well, it is a very helpful and important feature that anyone can wish to have in any of the translation services. This handy feature enables you to continue your conversation even when you don’t have an internet connection on your device. While Apple supports all the 11 languages in the offline mode as well. But you need to download the languages before accessing this amazing feature. You can do that by tapping on the download button. Coming to the Google Translator, out of 103 languages, it supports 59 languages for offline translation. And like in the Apple Translate, you need to download the language pack to access the offline translation feature. Undoubtedly, this round is also won by Google Translator.

Accuracy

When it comes to testing the accuracy of both the services, then it becomes quite difficult to come to a certain conclusion. The Apple Translate doesn’t support any Indian languages. So, it is hard to say anything about its accuracy right now. And the accuracy of a translation depends upon the language that you are using while translation. Concluding based on the accuracy of both the services, in my opinion, both the translator performs fairly. So, it will be inconvenient to award any of these services on this basis.

It is important to note that Google Translate is a cross-platform service that can be used on both the devices of Android and iOS. But that is not the case with the service of Apple Translate. Whether considering the features or availability of the service on platforms, Google Translate is on the top.
